Tavis Corporation, founded in 1969, has been manufacturing Variable Reluctance pressure
transducers for the Aircraft industry since its beginning, starting with flight test instrumentation
for the McDonnell Douglas DC-10. In 1973 Tavis entered the Space and Satellite market
furnishing pressure transducers for Martin Marietta for use on the Viking Lander program.
Since that time Tavis has become a major supplier of highly accurate, rugged and reliable pressure transducers for the Satellite, Spacecraft, and Aircraft industries. Space programs for which Tavis has furnished pressure transducers include the Space Shuttle Orbiter and External Tank; Atlas and Atlas Centaur launch vehicles; Delta IV launch vehicle; Mars Global Surveyor, Jupiter Galileo, and Deep Impact spacecraft; Mars Pathfinder and Rover landers; DSP, AXAF, STEP, HEOS and EOS
satellites; Hughes 376, HS601 and 701 communication satellite platforms; various classified
satellites; and multiple Space Station critical pressure and flow applications.
Military Aircraft applications which have utilized Tavis pressure transducers include Northrop B-2, McDonnell Douglas C-17 and Lockheed Martin F-22. Civilian/Commercial Aircraft experience
includes McDonnell Douglas MD-11, Boeing 747 and 767, and various aircraft using the Garrett 331 Series engine. Other programs with which Tavis has experience include the Trident
Submarine Missile Launch Tube Pressure Measurements, Nuclear Power Plant Containment Areas Air Pressure Measurements, and military Target Drone Braking Pressure and Fuel System Flow Measurements. This experience is complemented by demanding industrial and commercial
applications for the Petrochemical, HVAC, Hydrologic and Process Control Industries.
